Lee Brimelow showing off CS5

By Pål

Lee runs through a couple of the new features on the new Flash CS5. I like the new font embedding and the .XFL format.

  1. I’m the most psyched about the improvements to the code panel… custom class completion will make life so much easier. Other than that, the new text framework is a huge improvement, and the .XFL format is also a really, really cool addition.

CS5 seems loaded with lots of small improvements, welcome changes and tweaks. I do get the feeling however that compared to CS3 and CS4, CS5 is a fairly minor update… If you ask me, most of the things shown in Lee’s video could’ve (and should’ve) been implemented through updates to CS4, which is a pretty flawed product. I realize it’s a bit premature to say, but I do feel a bit ripped off. I also question Adobe’s decision to terminate the public beta, in order to rush the release of Flash CS5.

Does anyone know if there will be a default scrollbar when you publish 100% flash… Today I’m using javascript to force scrollbar for small resolution screens when I publish fullscreen?!?
